According to real estate law, any residence, workplace, or land within the borders of Turkey is subject to real estate tax. Therefore, foreigners who buy property in Turkey are required to pay property tax. If these real estates are within the boundaries of the metropolitan municipality and its adjacent areas, the applied rate is doubled. The property tax payment requirement begins one year after the property is purchased.
